In Austria, distance-based tolls are collected for all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes (trucks, buses and heavy goods vehicles) since 2004.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The TOLL road network is managed by the state company ASFINAG (Autobahn- und Schnellstrassen-Finanzierung-AG).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Austria’s TOLL road network includes all motorways, expressways and the following sections:<\/span><\/p>\n

– A 9 Bossrucktunnel, Gleinalmtunnel<\/span><\/p>\n

– A10 Tauernautobahn motorway, Katschbergtunnel<\/span><\/p>\n

– A11 Karawankentunnel<\/span><\/p>\n

– A3 Brennerautobahn motorway<\/span><\/p>\n

– S16 Arlberg Motorway<\/span><\/p>\n

You can check the current TOLL rates for Austria on the ASFINAG website<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TOLL in Austria are subject to VAT at the rate of 20%.<\/span><\/p>\n

How the toll rate is determined?<\/span><\/h2>\n

TOLL in Austria are determined on the basis of the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n

– Kilometers travelled on the TOLL road network.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Number of axles on the vehicle at the time of the journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Environmental vehicle category, EURO emission class: A (EURO VI), B (EURO EEV), C (EURO IV and V), D (EURO 0 to III) and E\/H2 <\/span>(Drive type E\/H2 covers purely electric drives and hydrogen fuel cell drive).<\/span><\/p>\n

– Time range during which the vehicle travels. There is a daytime tariff and a night tariff. Higher is the night tariff, which is between 22:00 and 5:00.<\/span><\/p>\n

How toll taxes are paid in Austria<\/span><\/h2>\n

TOLLs for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are paid by means of On-Board devices which are installed in the driver’s cab. They are also called On Board Units (OBUs).<\/span><\/p>\n

The driver of a vehicle subject to TOLL must carry a Vehicle Declaration ( Vehicle Declaration \/ Farzeugdeklaration ) during the travel and make it available to the authorities on request.<\/span><\/p>\n

The declaration is issued for the vehicle by the supplier of the On-Board Unit used to pay the TOLLs in Austria. You can
