Research results at a glance
Telematics can play a crucial role in providing concrete support for rental companies to remain competitive in the market. In fact, according to the data collected, 70% of participants believe that companies will provide both exclusive and shared mobility services in the near future. This will lead to an expansion of the offer by operators, with the aim of satisfying a wide range of customer needs and demands. An expansion of the offer requires a major paradigm shift due to the differences inherent in the several types of mobility services, exclusive and shared, which emerge above all with regard to the contact points that need to be deployed in the territory and organisational processes.
The delay in car sharing
Today, accessing car sharing is extremely easy and immediate: all it takes is an app. In contrast, short-term rental still requires a physical passage through a station. According to 43% of the interviewees, this difference is due to a delay in technology and processes. In this respect, 86% believe that telematics can facilitate the provision of rental without physical passage, thus speeding up the service.
Telematics as an enabling factor
The boundaries between market players are becoming increasingly more and more blurred with increasingly overlapping needs. In this context, telematics plays a fundamental role as an enabling factor in expanding the offer. In this regard, Viasat (now part of Targa Telematics) has long been committed to providing companies with customized technology solutions to support them in their digital transformation journey.
