FLOWS DECREE: ALL THE NEWS FOR THE ROAD TRANSPORT SECTOR

On the last 27th of December, the decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of the 21st of December 2021 concerning the programming of the Flows 2021 has been registered at the Court of Auditors. The decree in question will be published in the Official Gazette on 17 January 2022 and applications can be submitted from 27 January.

More specifically, within the overall quota of entries established at 69,700 units, 27,700 permits have been provided for non-seasonal and self-employment activities. The workers of road transport are among the latter.

Once in Italy, third-country nationals can only be employed as drivers provided they have professional licences equivalent to those of the EC category and convertible in Italy on the basis of reciprocity agreements in force. Drivers must therefore come from the following countries: Albania, Algeria, Morocco, Moldova, Republic of North Macedonia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Ukraine. If the worker is not in possession of the Driver Qualification Card (CQC), the duration of the employment contract will be for a fixed period of up to one year, and within that period the driver must obtain it.

Rules and procedures change, but nothing changes in the area of safety. Roadpol, the network of European police forces, informs that in the coming month’s checks on heavy vehicles will be intensified on the roads. In Italy, the traffic police will strengthen checks on driving and rest times, speed and other aspects of road transport.

When driving a vehicle, it is important to strictly observe the rules of the Highway Code and the regulations on the use of the tachograph (EC REG 561/2014 and EU 165/2006) to ensure one’s own safety and that of others. With Viasat telematic solutions connected to the vehicle, tachograph management becomes simple, providing the right tools to improve drivers’ activities, reducing the administrative tasks and the risk of violations.
